Design
Will Hegman, founder of Mississippi Solar, designed his first solar and wind system for a forty foot sailing sloop in the Caribbean in the 1980's. Since then Will has designed and installed off-grid, grid-tie and grid-tie with battery back-up systems. Will has training with Solar Energy International in both Basic & Advanced Photovoltaics. He also holds certificates from Miami-Dade College in both Design and installation, and NABCEP Certificate of Knowledge, certificate number E022109-55.
All Mississippi solar installations are currently designed to meet or exceed Florida design criteria (Mississippi currently has not set standards).
Mississippi Solar will be pleased to offer site assessment, design/permit packages, and energy audits for our installs and those wishing to install their own systems. We strongly suggest having energy auditing and building diagnostics services completed prior to seeking design information to focus on finding hidden problems and reducing energy consumption. A certified HERS rating may also be obtained.
Additionally, we have pre-designed installations for Solar Carports, Poultry Houses and Schools (see www.SchoolsOnSolar.com).
Mississippi Solar provides grant writing and technical assistance for the grant application process. Mississippi Solar installed the first USDA grant awarded for solar array on a poultry farm in Mississippi.
